What is IPL Laser Treatment?

IPL is visible light of various wavelengths which allows hair removal, or the removal of skin lesions with very little trauma to the skin.

The treatment is quick, gentle and non-invasive.

A hand held treatment head is placed against the skin, which is covered with a cooling conducting gel. The pulses of light are delivered through a filter which is selected based on the patient’s skin type.

The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the blood when treating vascular lesions or the melanin when treating pigmented lesions damaging them. The body's natural processes then remove the injured tissue giving the skin a more even luminous, younger looking skin.

The area is then thoroughly cooled. Most patients feel little or no pain, but for those who are extra sensitive, topical anaesthetic can be used.

IPL Skin Treatments using Photo rejuvenation often consist of full-face treatment or treatment of isolated body areas like the hands or chest.

Patients can return to normal activities immediately after treatment.

Clients leave the clinic with just the similar glowing feeling as if they have been sunbathing. Following facial treatments they can also apply make-up immediately because there is no breakage to the skin, unlike diathermy treatments to remove red veins.

The skin rejuvenation treatment reduces open pores, visibly firms and smoothes the skin and, after the recommended six treatments, restores collagen and elastin to reverse the ageing process by up to ten years.
